I don't even want to think what the NPC does with the gnomes :-/ hehe
Just curious - will the hiding places cycle randomly, or will they be fixed each time? There would have to be some challenge to getting the gnomes I'm guessing, for replayability value. Maybe having them somewhere where teamwork is needed to retrieve them (?) like next to an SI spawn point etc .. just a thought.

Lol! He'll have a vague (and kind of weird) backstory + original voice assets. :)

I think I'm just going to leave them in the same spots every time. They're spaced well apart, and even as the guy who PUT them there I forget about them half the time. Since they occupy your view/weapon slot, the challenge of getting all 4 to the safe room is a task and a half in itself, so I feel like players should be able to earn a (useful but not unfair) "veteran's edge" for repeated playthroughs. Additionally, the prizes are grabbable by anyone and all cash award bonuses are shared by the whole Team, making it more of a useful-but-not-absolutely-necessary set of perks that might tip the tables at harder difficulties.

What WILL be randomized is the amount of cash you find on bodies/in registers/elsewhere :)

If I can make it convincing enough, I hope implement a run-in with the L4D1 survivors as well; save an NPC they're providing cover fire for, and they'll give you the money they've found.

...which makes me realize I could easily make an escort mission...

Map 1's about to wrap up and Map 2 (the Aquarium) is underway, and it looks like it's going to be an especially atypical A->B map. I've got a working escort mission, which I hope to cross with the miniboss-in-planning.
